Nephrologist

What Does a Nephrologist Do?

A nephrologist’s primary goal is to preserve the remaining kidney function. Nephrologists diagnose and treat kidney diseases, including both the conditions these diseases can produce, such as hypertension, as well as diseases that can cause kidney failure, such as diabetes mellitus and polycystic kidney disease. Dr. Yazdani is ABIM Board Certified in Nephrology and a proud member of the American Society of Nephrologists.

How Treatment Works

Diagnosis first, then medications.

Knowing your health or disease inside and out, not only makes you more confident in understanding how your body works, but it also gives us more options when deciding on the best medications or lifestyle changes.

Lifestyle is very important.

A good example is sodium chloride [NaCl] and hypertension. Consumption of a high salt diet must end as a first step in curtailing it. In almost all kidney diseases, control of high blood pressure is critically important to preserve kidney function.

Coordination of Care

Collaboration with other physicians and healthcare providers, hospital and insurance systems is crucial in our patients’ path to health successes.
